Once known as 42nd Street (we inherited the name), but known to the regulars since we took the reigns in 2000 as 42’s, this club has been the haunt of many Manchester musicians, from the likes of the Stone Roses and Happy Mondays, through Oasis and on to more current bands like Slow Readers, Courteeners and Blossoms.
How’ve we survived 22 years in a short lived industry? Because we are not the same. Unlike most bars and clubs in any town in the UK, we are not run by business people.
We are run by people who love music.
Our business model is:
Make the music central, entertain people before you educate them.
Treat the staff and customers with respect and expect it back.
We’re not going to make everyone happy all the time, and we’re not even going to try. But enough people come back week after week to make us believe we are doing something right.
Try it with an open mind and you may be pleasantly surprised!
